The Card Reader beeps, but no data is displayed on my computer
Cause: The Card Reader is plugged into the mouse port on your
computer.
Solution:
Inspect the port that your Card Reader is plugged into. If the port is Purple
you have the right one, but if the port is Green, you are plugged into the mouse
port. Simply plug the reader into the Purple port and the keyboard into
the other connector on the Card Reader cable.
- OR -
Cause: The
Card Reader is not configured to send the tracks that are on your
card.
Solution: Reconfigure the Card Reader to
send all tracks of data.
Steps: With your keyboard connected
to the card reader and using Windows
notepad or some other program you can type in, follow these steps:

<Left Ctrl>
<CapsLock> <Right Shift> <Backspace> This will display the prompt "Press F1-F10 for
options"

Now press the F2 key
and the reader will prompt "Enable Tracks: "

Press the right arrow
until the option displays "Enable Tracks: 1,2,3"

Now press and hold down
the following keys: <Left Ctrl> <Escape> and release both
keys. This will display the message "Setup Complete Changes
saved".

Test your card output
in Windows notepad
- OR -
Cause: The Card Reader is set
to strip the same number of characters as there are on your card.
Solution: Reconfigure the Card
Reader to not strip characters from the tracks of data.
Steps: With your keyboard
connected to the card reader and using Windows
notepad or some other program you can type in, follow these steps:

<Left Ctrl>
<CapsLock> <Right Shift> <Backspace> This will display the prompt "Press F1-F10 for
options"

Now press the F3 key
and the reader will prompt for the stripping options

Use a combination of
the Right Arrow to change the number of characters to be stripped
off of each of the tracks.

Now press and hold down
the following keys: <Left Ctrl> <Escape> and release both
keys. This will display the message "Setup Complete Changes
saved".

Test your card output
in Windows notepad
- OR -
Cause: The Card Reader Output
Mode is not set correctly.
Solution: Reconfigure
the Card Reader Output Mode for the type of output you are using.
Steps: With your keyboard connected
to the card reader and using Windows notepad
or some other program you can type in, follow these steps: (Note: You may need to
connect the keyboard to the card reader and then connect the card reader to the
computer to get the reader to go back into Keyboard Wedge mode for configuration
purposes.)

<CapsLock> <Right Shift> <Backspace> This will display the prompt "Press F1-F10 for
options"

Now press the F1 key
and use the Down Arrow until you see the prompt "Output
Mode"

Press the right arrow
until the Output Mode displays the mode that you want to
use.

Now press and hold down
the following keys: <Left Ctrl> <Escape> and release both
keys. This will display the message "Setup Complete Changes
saved".
- OR -
Cause: The Card Reader is
configured to send the numeric data as KEYPAD NUMERICS, or the Keyboard Country
setting is set to UNIVERSAL.
Solution: Reconfigure the Card Reader
to Send Numerics As MAIN KEYBOARD KEYS and set the Keyboard Country setting to
the country setting of your computer.
Changing the Send
Numerics As
Steps: With your keyboard connected to the card
reader and using Windows notepad or
some other program you can type in, follow these steps:

<Left Ctrl>
<CapsLock> <Right Shift> <Backspace> This will display the prompt "Press F1-F10 for
options"

Now press the F1 key
and then press the Down Arrow until the reader displays the
prompt "Send Numerics As:"

Press the right arrow
until the option displays the "MAIN KEYBOARD KEYS" option
-
Now press and hold down
the following keys: <Left Ctrl> <Escape> and release both
keys. This will display the message "Setup Complete Changes
saved".
-OR-
Changing the Keyboard
Country
Steps: With your keyboard
connected to the card reader and using Windows
notepad or some other program you can type in, follow these steps:

<Left Ctrl>
<CapsLock> <Right Shift> <Backspace> This will display the prompt "Press F1-F10 for
options"

Now press the F1 key
and press the Down Arrow key until the reader displays "Keyboard
Country:"

Press the right arrow
until the option displays the proper keyboard country for your
application

Now press and hold down
the following keys: <Left Ctrl> <Escape> and release both
keys. This will display the message "Setup Complete Changes
saved".

Test your card output
in Windows notepad, if this did not fix the issue then repeat Steps 1 through
4 but modify the keyboard country until you get the one that you
desire.
