put my card reader back into keyboard wedge mode
If you are using
your Classic Line PS/2 card reader in Serial or Wand Emulation mode, and you wish
to put it back on your computer in keyboard wedge mode, you will need to
reprogram the card reader. By default, when the PS/2 card reader is powered up it will
look for a keyboard connected to the KBD end of the cable. If a keyboard is
found the reader will automatically switch out of Serial or Wand Emulation mode
back to Keyboard Wedge mode. This switch however will only occur if a
keyboard is connected to the reader on power up. If you require it be in keyboard wedge even when
a keyboard is not connected, then you should follow these steps:
Steps: With your keyboard connected to the card
reader, turn on your computer and once the operating system is ready, start Windows notepad
or some other program that you can type in,
and
follow these steps:
-
<Left Ctrl>
<CapsLock> <Right Shift> <Backspace> This will display the prompt "Press F1-F10 for
options"
-
Now press the
F1 key and hit the down arrow until you see "Output Mode:".
-
Press the right arrow to until the option reads "Output Mode: KEYBOARD WEDGE"
-
Now press and hold down
the following keys: <Left Ctrl> <Escape> and release both
keys. This will display the message "Setup Complete Changes
saved".
-
From now on when you restart the computer the reader will always start
in Keyboard Wedge mode. If you want to use the card reader in Serial or
Wand Emulation mode again you will need to reconfigure for those
modes.
