It takes several swipes before the credit card reader reads the card properly
Cause: The Card Reader's transmit speed is too fast.
If you are using a USB Adaptor (Non-ID Innovations) this is a common problem
because USB Adaptors are not prepared to handle the data as fast as the Card
Reader can transmit.
Solution: Slow down
the transmit speed on the reader. Use Windows notepad to repeatedly swipe
credit cards to verify that the data is received the same, each time the card
is read.
Steps: With your keyboard connected to the card
reader and using Windows notepad or
some other program you can type in follow these steps:
-
<Left Ctrl>
<CapsLock> <Right Shift> <Backspace> This will display the prompt "Press F1-F10 for
options"
-
Now press the F1 key
and hit the down arrow until you see "Transmit Speed 0 = Fastest:".
-
Press the right arrow
to slow down the transmit speed on the reader, try 6 first.
-
Now press and hold down
the following keys: <Left Ctrl> <Escape> and release both
keys. This will display the message "Setup Complete Changes
saved".
-
Test your card output in
Windows notepad, if this did not fix the issue then repeat Steps 1 through 4
but increase the transmit speed value each time you have to
repeat.
