PawnMaster

PawnMaster software is sales and accounting software for the Pawn Shop.  Some releases of the software integrate PC Charge into the software as a means to process credit cards.  As such, they have a couple of different methods of receiving credit card data from a card reader.  We detail the steps below for both possible options.  These options below are ones that we have successfully used to configure the reader for use with the software.

Option 1 - No Start & End Sentinels

This option is used to configure the reader to turn off Start & End Sentinels and set the termination string to be sent after each track.  This option was implemented with customers during calls with our customer support.  We now are offering this solution for your particular installation.  If you configure the reader as detailed in this option and you are still having issues with credit card swipes, try Option 2.

PS/2 Interface

Steps: With your keyboard connected to the card reader and using Windows notepad or some other program you can type in, follow these steps:

  1. <Left Ctrl> <CapsLock> <Right Shift> <Backspace>  This will display the prompt "Press F1-F10 for options"
  2. Now press the F2 and the reader will display "Enable Tracks:"
  3. Press the <Down Arrow> key multiple times until you see "Send Start & End Sentinels:"
  4. Use the <Right Arrow> key to change the option to Off.
  5. Press F6 to display the "Termination String" setting
  6. Press the <Down Arrow> to display "Send Termination String:" option
  7. Use the <Right Arrow> key to set the option to "After Each Track"
  8. Now press and hold down the following keys: <Left Ctrl> <Escape> and release both keys.  This will display the message "Setup Complete Changes saved". Test the card reader with the PawnMaster software, if the card swipe is still not registering then try Option 2.

USB Interface

Steps: After downloading and installing the Universal Programmer software, you will want to run it and follow the steps below:

  1. When the programmer is loaded into memory it will load the default configuration and you will be presented with a screen that shows "Configuration currently at default!".  This is referring to the configuration that is currently loaded in memory on the computer but not the one in the reader.
  2. Press F6 or click on the Termination String table to display the Termination String settings.
  3. Move your mouse or use the <Tab> key to move the current input focus to "Send Termination String:".
  4. Set the option to read "Send Termination String: After Each Track"
